We have reached the first Major Tournament of the Black Ops 6 season. Teams have arrived in Madrid to compete in the first European LAN since the beginning of the Call of Duty League.

Therefore, for the second edition week of the Breaking Point Power Rankings, we'll break down the best game modes for the season so far for each of the 12 teams in the CDL. Here is how the BreakingPoint team ranks each of the teams heading into the opening tournament.

How the teams are ranked: The writers, stats team, and content team at Breaking Point were polled to rate each of the 12 teams — putting more weight on recency instead of the entire season. Since there have only been two weeks of play, the team was assigned to rank the teams going into the Minor. Each ranks the teams 1st through 12th. After collecting the rankings from the BP team, each team would be given points for each vote, as seen below:

1st – 11 points
2nd – 10 points
3rd – 9 points
4th – 8 points
5th – 7 points
6th – 6 points
7th – 5 points
8th – 4 points
9th – 3 points
10th – 2 points
11th – 1 point
12th – 0 points

The Breaking Point Power Ranking

Previous Ranking: January 7th, 2025

1st: OpTic Texas

8-2 Record (80%), 28-15 Map Count (65%), 70 CDL points
Roster: Dashy - Kenny - Huke - Shotzzy
Next Match: Thursday, January 30th at 2:30 pm EST vs Miami Heretics
Previous Ranking: 3rd [Up 2 Spots]

Best Mode: Hardpoint

OpTic has been absolutely clicking in Hardpoint this season. They lead the League in multiple categories including:

Record: 13-5
Map 1 Record: 8-2
Average Margin (Avg +/-): +51.9
Hold Percentage: 76.6%
Points per Hold Opportunity: 30.4
+/- per Hold Opportunity: +17.8 (This means when they win the rotation, they average +17.8 net points on the hill)
+/- per Break Opportunity: -5.1 (This means when they lose the rotation, they average an incredible -5.1 net points on the hill)

Outside of Red Card (0-3), they have a deep map pool. This makes them a very dangerous team to face at the Major.

2nd: Atlanta FaZe

8-3 Record (73%), 27-18 Map Count (60%), 70 CDL points
Roster: aBeZy - Cellium - Drazah - Simp
Next Match: Thursday, January 30th at 10:00 am EST vs Boston Breach
Previous Ranking: 6th [Up 4 Spots]

Best Mode: Hardpoint

FaZe are 14-6 in Hardpoint this season, ranking 2nd in the CDL. This season they’ve played the mode very differently than in the past. With just active duty maps (No Rewind), they are 1st in the CDL with a 61.9% rotation win percentage. While they are middle of the pack in both holding & breaking, having that high of a Roto W% boosts them to a League-leading 22.3 points per minute.

Their form is also on the rise, going 8-2 in the last 10 maps played.

3rd: Toronto Ultra

6-2 Record (75%), 21-14 Map Count (60%), 60 CDL points
Roster: Beans - CleanX - Insight - JoeDeceives
Next Match: Thursday, January 30th at 11:30 am EST vs Vancouver Surge
Previous Ranking: 2nd [Down 1 Spot]

Best Mode: SND

While they are 2-3 in the last 5 maps, SND is still their best mode this season. Toronto leads the League with a 9-3 record including 4-0 on Protocol, 3-1 on Red Card, and 2-0 on Vault. Their fundaments are on point in the mode overall. Ultra are 2nd in opening duel win rate (55.4%), 2nd in Conversion rate (82.1%), 1st in post-plant win rate (71.8%), and 4th in retake win rate (45.5%). What is the result of all of these great statistics? The #1 attack (32-17, 65.3%) and #2 defense (31-21, 59.6%).

4th: Los Angeles Thieves

5-3 Record (63%), 20-16 Map Count (56%), 50 CDL points
Roster: Envoy - Ghosty - HyDra - Scrap
Next Match: Thursday, January 30th at 1:00 pm EST vs Carolina Royal Ravens
Previous Ranking: 1st [Down 3 Spots]

Best Mode: Control

The Thieves are the best Control team currently in the CDL. They rank 1st in multiple categories including Control Record (6-2), Round Win % (61.8%), and Defense Record (14-4, 77.8%). The squad is top three in both ticks capped per attacking round (4.1, 3rd) and ticks allowed per defending round (3.2, 2nd). They aren’t just great at ticks, they are first are average life margin on both sides of Control. Being the best in the swing mode could be a big benefit this weekend.

5th: Boston Breach

5-3 Record (63%), 19-18 Map Count (51%), 50 CDL points
Roster: Cammy - Owakening - Purj - Snoopy
Next Match: Thursday, January 30th at 10:00 am EST vs Atlanta FaZe
Previous Ranking: 5th [Unchanged]

Best Mode: Hardpoint

While the Breach lacks the slaying power the top teams have, they are playing a very efficient form of Call of Duty that is helping them overcome that hurdle. With a 9-6 Record, they rank 3rd in the mode. Just looking at the Active Duty mapset, they are 3rd in Rotation win percentage at 52.6%. When they don’t win the rotation, they have the best break percentage in the League at 44.1% overall this season.

6th: Carolina Royal Ravens

7-3 Record (70%), 25-19 Map Count (57%), 70 CDL points
Roster: Gwinn - SlasheR - TJHaly - Vivid
Next Match: Thursday, January 30th at 1:00 pm EST vs LA Thieves
Previous Ranking: 6th [Down 2 Spots]

Best Mode: SND

Search & Destroy has been the best mode this season for the Ravens, having a 9-6 record behind great play from TJHaly. Even though their form has recently died off (2-4 in the last 6 maps), they still have one of the best defenses in the League and are 4-1 in Map 5s. Looking only at Active Duty Maps, the Ravens have the 3rd best defensive win percentage (58.7%) and the best retake win percentage (48.9%). Going into the Major, many of the top teams are very good in Hardpoint, which puts a lot of pressure on the SND form to return for Carolina.

7th: Vancouver Surge

4-4 Record (50%), 17-19 Map Count (47%), 40 CDL points
Roster: O4 - abuzah - Hicksy - Nastie
Next Match: Thursday, January 30th at 11:30 am EST vs Toronto Ultra
Previous Ranking: 9th [Up 2 Spots]

Best Mode: Control

After starting the season with a 2-3 record in the mode, the Surge have found their way. They are currently on a 3-map win streak and have improved their record to 5-3 overall. Their defense is stout, allowing just 3.1 ticks captures allowed per defensive round, which ranks 1st in the CDL. With a 12-5 round record on defense, Vancouver has either closed out Controls cleanly or in Round 5, where they have a perfect 2-0 round record.

8th: Los Angeles Guerrillas M8

2-6 Record (25%), 15-18 Map Count (45%), 20 CDL points
Roster: KiSMET - Lynz - Priestahh - Skyz
Next Match: Friday, January 31st at 11:30 am EST vs TBD
Previous Ranking: 10th [Up 2 Spots]

Best Mode: Control

The best Control team in the game is one of the building blocks of the M8s for the future. They have the best record in the mode (6-2) while having a top 2 ranked attack & defense. Outside of Protocol (0-1), they are great on both Hacienda (2-0) and Vault (4-1). Overall, their attack is proving to be the difference maker. The team averages a CDL-best 4.3 ticks per attack, which has pushed them to an 8-10 attacking record (2nd best). KiSMET, #1 Control K/D this year at 1.20, will look to extend LA’s 3-map win streak in the mode further.

9th: Miami Heretics

2-6 Record (25%), 17-20 Map Count (46%), 20 CDL points
Roster: Lucky - MettalZ - ReeaL - RenKoR
Next Match: Thursday, January 30th at 2:30 pm EST vs OpTic Texas
Previous Ranking: 11th [Up 2 Spots]

Best Mode: Hardpoint

The Heretics aren’t excelling greatly in any of the three modes. They are on a 4-map losing streak in Control, have the worst SND defense, and have the worst hold percentage in Hardpoint. Even though their holding is very poor, they have continued to scrape out Hardpoint wins. They are 3-2 in their last 5 maps, 3rd in rotation win percentage overall, and 3rd in break efficiency.

10th: Minnesota RØKKR

4-6 Record (40%), 21-26 Map Count (45%), 30 CDL points
Roster: Estreal - Gio - Nero - PaulEhx
Next Match: Friday, January 31st at 10:00 am EST vs TBD
Previous Ranking: 7th [Down 3 Spots]

Best Mode: SND

Search & Destroy was easily their best mode at the beginning of the season, but they have cooled off as of late. Minnesota are 9-8 in the mode overall including 3-0 on Hacienda and 3-1 on Vault. Their defense is the better of the two sides, ranking 6th with a 51.3% win rate and 2nd in retake win rate (47.2%). After starting 4-0 in Map 5s, they’ve now lost 3 straight. The squad will need to regain their early season form if they wish to make a deeper run at Major 1.

11th: Cloud9 New York

2-7 Record (22%), 15-22 Map Count (41%), 10 CDL points
Roster: Attach - Kremp - Mack - Sib
Next Match: Friday, January 31st at 1:00 pm EST vs TBD
Previous Ranking: 8th [Down 3 Spots]

Best Mode: Hardpoint

The New York squad has had a rocky season so far, sitting at 2-7 this year. They’ve had plenty of struggles in both SND (1-4 in last 5 maps) and Control (2-7 record), but are the 5th ranked team in Hardpoint with an 8-7 record. They do not rank highly in rotating, holding, or breaking but they are middle of the pack in hold & break efficiencies. This has helped them get wins on all five active duty maps this year, lead by a 4-1 record on Skyline. The goal for the future is to build out their map pool to make vetoes harder against them.

12th: Vegas Falcons

0-8 Record (0%), 4-24 Map Count (14%), 0 CDL points
Roster: D7oomx - Exnid - KiinG - Roxas
Next Match: Friday, January 31st at 8:30 am EST vs TBD
Previous Ranking: 12th [Unchanged]

Best Mode: SND

The Falcons have struggled this season overall, but have found map wins in Search & Destroy. They are 3-5 overall this season, including 2-1 in their last 3 maps. They have the 2nd best attacking win percentage (51.4%) and post-plant win percentage (70%). If they can upset a team in a respawn map, there is some hope that their SND could carry the team to their first series win of the year.
