MW3 Objective Player of the Year Ladder | January 9th

We have our first rankings for Objective Player of the Year! Players were ranked on their performances from the first two weeks of matches, placing emphasis on Hardpoint Hill Time, SnD plants/defuses, and Control Tiers captured per attacking round. These rankings will change as we get deeper into the season, but this article provides early insight on objective focused players.

Storylines to watch

During Week 4 of the Qualifiers, the New York Subliners take on the Toronto Ultra on Friday, January 19th at 6:00 pm EST. This series will showcase two of the top four teams playing each other and two of the best objective players in the CDL. KiSMET is the highest-ranked SMG objective player, averaging 90.3 seconds of hill time per 10 minutes, 6 plants, and 2.2 ticks captured per attacking round. Insight easily matches these stats, averaging 97.8 seconds of hill time per 10 minutes, 2 plants, and a CDL-high 3.2 ticks captured per attacking round.

1) Brandon "Dashy" Otell - OpTic Texas

Why is Dashy #1: Dashy was ranked as the second best AR in the CDL in our Assault Rifle Ladder, but he takes the top spot for the best Objective Player through the first two weeks. Even though OpTic prioritizes its ARs doing the objective work, Dashy has still put up high slaying numbers. He averages a CDL-high 118.0 seconds of hill time per 10 minutes in Hardpoint with a KD of 1.29. In Control, Dashy is one of four players averaging over 3 ticks captured, holding the 2nd highest with 3.0.

2) Jamie "Insight" Craven - Toronto Ultra

Why is Insight #2: Insight has always been the main objective player for the Toronto Ultra. He leads the CDL in ticks captured per attacking round with 3.2 & just one of four players to cross above 3.0. Only Scrap has more than 1.5 tick captures on Toronto outside of Insight. In Hardpoint, Jamie leads the Ultra with 97.8 seconds of hill time per 10 minutes, ranking 3rd in the CDL. In Search & Destroy, the Ultra do not plant often, but Jamie accounts for 2 of the 5 total plants they have so far.

Why is KiSMET #3: KiSMET, the highest ranking SMG, comes in third on the Objective Player of the Year Ladder. He is a major part of the Subliner's success, leading the team in almost every objective category. Kis is averaging a team-high 90.3 seconds of hill time per 10 minutes, a team-high 6 plants, a team-high 2 defuses, and 2.2 ticks captured per attacking round. Only his Control objective stats rank 2nd on the team, with Sib capturing 2.3 ticks per attacking round. With KiSMET's consistency over the previous year, expect to see him on this ladder all year.

4) Kenneth "Kenny" Williams - OpTic Texas

Why is Kenny #4: The addition of Kenny to OpTic Texas was criticized by many heading into the season. Teaming with three slayers, fans were unsure if Kenny would be forced into an objective-only style and have a diminished slaying role. Kenny hasn’t missed a beat in the slaying department, all while being a leading objective force on the map. He’s averaging 80.8 seconds of hill time per 10 minutes, 2 plants, and 2.7 ticks captured per attacking round. On multiple occasions, Kenny has made clutch plays late into a match that secured OpTic the win. Although his plays don’t show on the boxscore, Kenny has shown to be a valuable pickup for OpTic.

Why is Estreal #5: The rookie has been a great pickup for the LA Guerrillas, helping them take down the Thieves 3-0 in the Battle of LA. While his form in SnD has been lackluster, he has been playing great in the respawn modes. Estreal currently averages 44.8 seconds of hill time per game, 3.0 ticks captured per attacking round in Control, and leads the Guerrillas with 7 plants in SnD. If LAG can improve in Hardpoint, we can expect the hill time to improve. The other numbers are still fantastic for the rookie. With two more weeks of qualifiers, the Objective Ladder is still up for grabs.
