The Las Vegas Legion have parted ways with SMG Obaid "Asim" Asim, sources have told BreakingPoint.

In his place, Las Vegas are signing ex-Legion player Giancarlos "oJohnny" Carrasco.

The news comes as the Legion are amid their worst slump of the season. After back-to-back Top 8 finishes at the opening Majors, the franchise benched rookie Evan "Purj" Perez after the first week of the Major 3 Qualifiers in favor of Asim. Sources have also confirmed that the return of Purj to the roster was a possibility, but the team ultimately went with oJohnny.

Since the move, the Legion have lost four straight series with a 0-12 map count. They did have to face three of the four best teams in the League, but the loss to the Seattle Surge cemented their spot in the Lower Bracket for Major 3.

Asim individually has not been able to click within the new roster. While the sample size is small and the competition has been very strong, he finished his Las Vegas stint with a 0.69 KD and 60.2 Slayer Rating.

With the season past the midpoint and teams around the Legion in the Season Standings beginning to play well, the team needed to make a move to keep their Champs dreams alive.

Currently, the Las Vegas Legion are in 9th in the Season Standings with 100 CDL points.
