Las Vegas shuffle, release four
Las Vegas Legion has announced the release of Giovanni “Gio” Webster, Dylan “Nero” Koch, Kevin “Fame” Bonanno, and coach Sam “Fenix” Spencer.
The franchise is rumored to be leaving the Call of Duty League and has started to release most of its starting roster and coaching staff. During the 2024 competitive season, the Legion showed a lot of promise but ultimately failed to qualify for COD Champs.
The rookie Gio had a fantastic season, ending with a 1.07 overall KD with a 1.15 KD in Hardpoint and a 79.0 Slayer Rating. He joined the team before Stage 2 and provided a boost of slaying to Las Vegas. While he struggled in SND (0.76 KD), his LAN form of 1.10 overall KD & 1.20 Hardpoint KD gives a lot of promise for his sophomore campaign.

Nero was another player who had a resurgence in form during Modern Warfare 3. The entry SMG had a 1.06 overall KD on the year with a 79.5 Slayer Rating and 1.08 respawn KD. In SND, he led the Legion with 80 plants (64 more than the next player) and 72 opening duel wins. Teams looking for an SMG upgrade will certainly be acquiring in Nero for the next season.
Fame’s time on the Legion was short, stepping in to play during the Esports World Cup. While the team struggled at EWC, Fame played well in the respawn modes but couldn’t get going in SND. He finished with a 1.07 respawn KD while averaging 85.8 seconds of hill time per 10 minutes in Hardpoint and 2.0 caps per attacking round in Control. He led all SMGs with 4474 damage per 10 minutes in Control as well. Look for Fame’s name to be in the mix during rostermania for Black Ops 6.
After leaving the Seattle Surge following the end of Modern Warfare 2, Fenix joined Las Vegas for the 2024 season. The veteran head coach helped the younger Legion develop as the season went along. Having notably coached since 2020, Fenix will be on the lookout to join another coaching staff for next year.
