BO7 Golden Boot Race: New Man on Top

Scoring goals wins games in Overload, and as we head into a St. Patrick’s Day update before the conclusion of the Major II qualifiers, a new group of players is beginning to separate themselves as the league’s most dangerous finishers. Welcome back to the Golden Boot Tracker, our running leaderboard highlighting the top Overload goal scorers this season, inspired by soccer’s iconic award. From scoring Hat-Tricks to scoring game-winning clutch goals, these players are turning green lights into wins as the stage reaches its final stretch.

But first, a quick refresher: What is the Golden Boot? In football (Soccer), the Golden Boot is awarded to the player who finishes a competition as the top goal scorer, whether that’s in domestic leagues, the World Cup, or the Champions League. In that same spirit, this tracker celebrates the CDL players putting the ball in the back of the net the most. With Major II right around the corner, here’s your latest Golden Boot Tracker for the Black Ops 7 season.

Thomas "Scrap" Ernst - Los Angeles Thieves

28 Goals, 2 Assists
○ 11-8 Record, 184.9 Minutes Played
○ 79 Runs (38% Score Percentage)
○ 1.51 Goals per 10 minutes (2nd)

Scrap takes the lead in the Golden Boot race, edging out Abuzah due to playing fewer minutes in Overload so far this season. This is the first time this season that Scrap has taken the crown, thanks to incredible consistency out of the Main AR.

While he hasn't had a 4-Goal game yet, like many others on this list, he has scored at least one goal in 89% of his maps played (17 maps), which is the highest percentage in the CDL. He is also tied in the lead with four maps with 3 or more goals, showing that he has consistency but also the ability to have a high scoring output.

Jordan "Abuzah" François - FaZe Vegas

28 Goals, 7 Assists
○ 12-10 Record, 221.6 Minutes Played
○ 83 Runs (42% Score Percentage)
○ 1.26 Goals per 10 minutes (5th)

This is the first ranking of the season in which Abuzah isn't the leading man on the list. While he is tied with Scrap at 28 goals, he has played 3 more maps & almost 40 more minutes this season.

The Belgian is one of seven players to have scored 4-Goals in a single game, doing so against Vancouver earlier in the season. Abuzah also has had solid consistency as well, scoring at least 2 goals in 45% of his maps played (10 maps), which is tied with Exceed for most 2-Goal maps this season.

Kaden "Exceed" Stockdale - Carolina Royal Ravens

27 Goals, 2 Assists
○ 8-8 Record, 154.4 Minutes Played
○ 66 Runs (44% Score Percentage)
○ 1.75 Goals per 10 minutes (1st)

Exceed continues to climb the Golden Boot list, even though he has played significantly fewer maps & minutes than his fellow competitors here.

He leads the League in percentage of maps with 2+ Goals at 63% of his maps played (10 maps) and in maps with 3+ goals at 25% (4 maps). During Stage II, Exceed is tied with Scrap at 14 goals scored, showing that he is not slowing down anytime soon.

Mason "Mercules" Ramsey - OpTic Texas

26 Goals, 4 Assists
○ 16-5 Record, 214.1 Minutes Played
○ 85 Runs (35% Score Percentage)
○ 1.21 Goals per 10 minutes (6th)

Mercules is again firmly cemented in the Top 4 for Goals scored this season, just 2 Goals behind the leader going into the final week of Major 2 Qualifiers.

The Flex AR for OpTic Texas has scored 13 goals this stage, reaching the same amount he scored in total during the entirety of Stage I. He is a prolific scorer, having been one of the select few to score 4 Goals in 1 Game & has 4 maps with 3+ Goals this season. OpTic are easily the best team in the Call of Duty League in Overload this season, so expect Mercules to battle for the crown throughout the year.

Zach "Drazah" Jordan - FaZe Vegas

23 Goals, 3 Assists
○ 12-10 Record, 221.6 Minutes Played
○ 52 Runs (50% Score Percentage)
○ 1.04 Goals per 10 minutes (9th)

The FaZe Vegas Flex AR holds the final spot in the Top 5, but is starting to lose his grip on the 5th position.

While FaZe's form in Overload has plummeted this Stage, they still have two of the top 5 scorers of the year. Both have struggled to score in Stage II, though, as through 9 series, Drazah has only lit the lamp 7 times, while Abuzah has only 6. He does have a 2-goal margin to the 6th position (KiSMET, 21 goals), so the Alaskian Assassin has some time to help Vegas turn the ship around in Overload.
