The LA Thieves have said farewell to entry SMG Marcus “Afro” Reid.

Afro joined the franchise in the offseason, hoping to revitalize his career after stops in London & Minnesota. While he showed flashes of his high potential, the team struggled at the start of the year.

With back-to-back Top 12 finishes in the opening two Majors, the franchise pivoted to stay in the Champion fight. Marcus would be replaced in the starting lineup by Joseph "JoeDeceives" Romero, who had been benched after Major 1 but returned after a strong showing in Challengers.

The Englishman finished the year with a 0.89 overall KD, 71.7 Slayer Rating, and 0.86 respawn KD. While he struggled mightly in respawns, highlighted by the CDL-low 3417 damage per 10 minutes in Hardpoint, he played great in SND. Afro had a 1.09 KD in Search & Destroy with 0.78 kills per round, a 62.7% opening duel win rate, and was 13-2 in opening duels in Game 5s.

While the season did not go as planned for the veteran, his great SND form still keeps alight the hope of signing with a franchise going into Black Ops 6.
