The Call of Duty League has made multiple major announcements for the Professional & Challengers circuits this season. We'll break down each piece of the announcements & what they mean for the CDL ecosystem.

Dreaming about Major IV

The season announcement in December left the location & host of the Major IV tournament out, leaving fans guessing. Rumors had the tournament happening in multiple different locations including Chicago, but ultimately the tournament will happen in Dallas, TX hosted by Dreamhack.

This is the first tournament within the CDL season to be hosted by a 3rd party organizer. It follows the addition of the Esports World Cup, which is still separated from the League Structure, in the competitive year.

Dreamhack is a great addition to Call of Duty though, as multiple other esport titles will compete at the same event. Notably, IEM Dallas (CS2) will occur from May 19th to May 25th.

Challengers Back on the Menu

While there won't be a Challengers event during Major I, the CDL has announced that the three remaining Majors will have Challengers Opens to go along with them. This raises the Challengers Competitions to 3 Open LANs, 3 Elite Seasons, Challengers Finals, and EWC.

While the Challengers circuit has many flaws, these additions will improve the scene drastically.
