The Breaking Point Awards are back for the Black Ops 6 Season!
This season, we will be handing out over 17 awards for exceptional individual and team performance, including 8 that will be voted on by a panel. Awards will vary from excellence in a certain game mode to outstanding play with the SMG. Before the season begins, our team has voted for the preseason favorites for each of the panel-voted awards. The next award we'll break down is the Black Ops 6 Control Player of the Year.
To start, we'll examine the Control Player of the Year award and the previous winner.
The Control Player of the Year Award highlights the individual excellence of players in Control & how it impacts the team's success. It is given to the individuals deemed the most impactful over the entire season while guiding their teams to victory in the mode. The panel is tasked to look at multiple factors including influence on the team's success, consistency, individual peaks, and intangible qualities.
Last season, during Modern Warfare 3, the award was only taken into account the Regular Season. This year, the award will include Champs & the Esports World Cup. This makes the award a truly season-long award that will factor in every professional event during Black Ops 6.
During Modern Warfare 3, the panel was made up of BP team members, CDL coaches, Co-streamers & ex-professional players (Scump, ZooMaa, Octane, Methodz, etc), and other media outlets. The final result was that Thomas "Scrap" Ernst won the award with 192 points. He received 11 of the 32 total 1st-place votes overall by voters, winning by just 10 points. The next closest player was Paco "HyDra" Rusiewiez, who is now his teammate on the LA Thieves. Here is how the full voting broke down of the closest award last season:
Heading into the new title, the slate has been wiped clean. The BP team was asked for their preseason favorites going into Black Ops 6. The points were tallied, and these were the four players at the top. Here are your Black Ops 6 preseason Control Player of the Year favorites:
○ Zack "Drazah" Jordan
○ Chris "Simp" Lehr
○ Thomas "Scrap" Ernst
○ Amer "Pred" Zulbeari
We asked the BreakingPoint team who they believe will win the Control Player of the Year Award at the end of the season. Here is who they picked!
TacticalRab: Beans
"Marcel has always been an immense slayer, and he's often amounted to a solo guaranteed map 3 wins even on weaker rosters. Stepping into Scrap's role on Toronto, the roster can be as good as any other in the mode - amplified by Beans."
Ronnie: Simp
"Faze has been the best Control team nearly every CDL season so far, and Simp is always a big part of that. His ability to switch between the SMG and AR at important moments is always key in Control."
Easy Mac: Simp
“I have HyDra (LA Thieves) winning the Hardpoint and Dashy (OpTic Texas) winning the SND, so it only makes sense to have Simp win the Control of Player of the Year. He's always been very talented in each of the modes, but I think if Atlanta is going to be good this season it'll be behind great Control & SND gameplay."
